Prologue and Epilogue of the Magdalo Group

On April 08, 2008, Tuesday, Judge Oscar Pimentel of the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 handed down the court’s verdict on Captains Milo Maestrocampo and Gerardo Gambala who were identified as prime-movers of the Oakwood mutiny on July 27, 2003. Both rogue soldiers were sentenced to up to 40 years in prison. On the other hand, the court also imposed a 6 to 12 years imprisonment on seven other officers  identified as Captains Albert Baloloy, John Andres and Alvin Ebreo, Lieutenants Lawrence Luis Somera, Florentino Somera, Christopher Brian Yasay and Cleo-Dongga-As, for participating in the attempted mutiny. Justice has been served. Perhaps at this point, nobody would want to contest the court’s decision on the fate of these junior officers, except, for their lawyers of course. Since the Magdalo Group has evidently placed the whole country in troubles and their agenda was brought about with the wrong kind of approach, it’s about time for them to face the consequences. Several military careers have been trashed, several families have been affected, but these soldiers have to accept it no matter how bitter it is. For these soldiers, idealism should have been the way of life, but little did they know that being idealistic is prone to being exploited. Too bad, these soldiers are not that familiar with the realities of life… much more, the system. The Armed Forces of the Philippines may be riddled with corruption, irregularities and scoundrels but an ideal system simply does not exist. A total reform cannot be done overnight. It will take years and such reform may have started with these soldiers if they have not been taken advantaged by politicians, power grabbers and opportunists. It was quite obvious that unscrupulous groups or individuals are behind the mutiny, much more, for the destabilization attempt to bring down the President, so that they can take over juicy positions for their own good. Magdalo members has already been convicted and Sen Antonio Trillanes is not far from having the same fate, but destabilizers, power grabbers and opportunists remains scot-free. These people with their own personal ambitions will never cease until they get what they want. The bad thing is that some of them belong to the opposition groups, the Senate, the Lower House, the local communists and the business sectors. Who knows? Some of them, at this point in time, may be brewing some nasty things against the present administration since they are far from giving up. Destabilizers just lost their pawns, which are the Magdalo Group, but they still have the money and alternatives to go on with their crooked plans against the leadership…

OF PRESIDENTIABLES AND COMMUNISTS…

Senators Manuel Villar, Panfilio Lacson, Loren Legarda, Jinggoy Estrada… what do they have in common? Of course, they all wanted to be the next President of this Republic. So much grandstanding was seen on the tri-media for the past few months. This bunch of personalities has been all-around clinging to juicy issues. From the Manila Peninsula incident to the NBN anomalies; they have stayed on camera focus so that every household will see their face and hopefully vote for them in 2010. For a traditional politician (TRAPO), every effort of acting out in front of the camera is but a normal thing to do, since a free airtime once in a while adds up to the people’s familiarity on their faces. However, with the fact that these politicians made tie-ups with the local communist movement, they are evidently playing with fire. At the height of Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada’s revelations regarding the NBN deal anomalies, these senators sprouted like mushrooms, eager to grab the opportunity of going with the trend and hopefully, to jack-up their “pogi” or “ganda points”. At this point, the local communists, with Satur Ocampo tagging along his BAYAN MUNA communist supporters are so bright to exploit the situation and offered alliance with the unwitting senators, which, the politicians unthinkingly accepted. It was quite incomprehensive for the sensible people of this country that the law-makers have the guts to corroborate themselves with the enemy of the state. Everybody knows that the CPP-NPA-NDF’s main objective is to bring down the administration and they have tried doing that by exploiting the mess Jun Lozada has made. Protest actions were held, an Interfaith Rally was initiated, the church meddled with politics, the youth was impelled in joining street actions etc.. Such scenario was a wet dream for Satur Ocampo and his goons since a little inch more and it was supposedly a total mayhem. However, the handsome and beautiful senators were nowhere in sight, manifesting that they are playing safe for the outcome of the supposedly destabilization activities. Surely, these witty senators will only come out if everything was clear and the President was already ousted. Coming out in the open during the still unpredictable scenario may blemish their names if a revolution failed to materialize. It was clear that the senators want it “well-done”… not “medium rare”. As of now, the all-time ever-assuming genius of the local communist was scratching his head why these senators left them in the open. By now, Satur Ocampo decided not anymore to tag along these senators who seemingly does not have the drive to crush the administration, but rather, are only interested only in their political careers comes 2010. On the contrary, the communist are keen in bringing down the administration since it remained to be their utmost goal. With the contradicting objectives, the alliance between the Senators (read: Presidentiables) and the local communists has been tarnished, but both of them are far from giving up their goal. One is to be the next leader thru traditional politics, while the other is to ruin democracy and instill communisms. For the thinking majority, both of which will not help the country…

Dagdag pa, may libreng pagkain daw.

Using the Kids…

The school is a place to learn, a place to grow and where teachers are painstakingly molding each student on how to become better members of the society. It is a place where learners are protected from anything that may blemish their young and delicates minds. It is where the students must not get exposed to the ugliness of real world, yet till they are ready to face it. However, with the political mayhem currently blanketing the whole country, anti-administration forces opted to use academic institutions in their bid to oust the President. They are virtually brainwashing the young minds of these hapless students without even considering its permanent effect on them. While Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada is happily visiting colleges and universities to promote his “hero” image, perhaps, he and the opposition should spare those learning institutions where innocent kids are slowly adhering to the anti-government concept that are slowly being instilled to these young minds. They are not even thinking that such school campaigns in going against the administration will eventually produced rebels… even after the current political chaos has been already been resolved. Psychologically speaking, at such age, it will be permanent and irreversible in their mind if the concept of being anti-government is inculcated to them. Obviously, Jun Lozada did not learn how to be patriotic and law-abiding citizen during his elementary days, reflecting on how corrupt he was in his job and how he cheated on his wife. He should refrain from brandishing his greed-tainted life as if it is normal for a “hero” like him. Continuing the practice of school visits to campaign the opposition’s cause, while inciting the students to go against the administration, is insane to the point of using the children. It seems that Lozada and the opposition haven’t learned that the country’s future lies in the hands of the youth. These detabilizers barely knows the offshoot of their deeds. Their actions have become reckless and irresponsible. They are obviously not thinking about the future anymore, but rather, for their greed of power only. If they want to topple the present administration, they should do it themselves and spare the kids from their selfish endeavor.

The Unlearning Process

The Interfaith Rally last February 29, 2008 undeniably took a crowd that everybody think was close to a critical mass that may have eventually led to another People Power. Religious groups demanded for the truth, left-leaning militants insisted GMA to step down, opposition personalities wanted to take over the leadership, while students and the youth sector are just merely present to witness any turn of events. Even the Makati workers joined the crowd just to get a glimpse on what is happening before going home. The media did take great footages of the crowd and the event, implying that a People Power is in the brink of eruption. However, they failed to tell the public that each group in said protest action has their own agenda. Evidently, the crowd did not have a solid stand on the political turmoil, making the Rodolfo Lozada expose a weak cause to bring down the present administration. Disunity among the protesters is somewhat too obvious.

Perhaps the organizers did successfully muster a massive crowd, but they miserably failed to bring down facts in front of their followers that should justify their drive to oust the President. It is quite obvious that they are just pitifully trying to re-enact those successful People Powers that took place years ago and they really did not learn from those past lessons. They did not think that Ferdinand Marcos was ousted because his regime committed several atrocities against the people, especially during the declaration of Martial Law. It was a glaring example of human rights violations that was documented in many ways. They did not also think that former president Joseph Estrada was ousted because of corruption and plunder that was proven in court with hard evidences. However this time, evidences against GMA lies only with Jun Lozada’s testimony that the majority of the public are not even buying. There are still no conspicuous evidences that will link the Arroyo’s from the allegations that these anti-administration groups are shouting about. They made an uneducated accusation of linking the President to the NBN scam. They did not even think that Rodolfo Lozada, whose government records were tarnished with corruption will be not be any worth of being a witness in the senate hearing. These destabilizers are learning backwards.

The Interfaith rally was designed to escalate to a critical mass and was supposed to end up as another People Power. But then, the prime movers committed a blunder when they allowed former Presidents Cory Aquino and Joseph Estrada deliver a speech on stage. They even include Major Jejomar Binay whom everybody hated. They overlooked the fact that the general public is not keen anymore in seeing politicians speak non-sense in front of them. Even Boy “Pastor” Sayco of COPA walked-out of the event when Erap had the floor for his “pogi” speech. The organizers did not even think that Rodolfo Lozada, whose credibility crumbled after his cross-examination at the senate, is not that fit to incite the public in his seemingly personal motive to be recognized and famous for the mess he made. The public already know his double dealing deeds with the government and the opposition and it was enough not to believe in him anymore. These destabilizers did not even consider that the AFP and PNP is far from withdrawing their support from the present administration. They were not smart enough to analyze that without the AFP/PNP, any attempt to mount a People Power is futile. Besides, 2010 is fast approaching and the general public prefers to wait for the next presidential election than to join a rally intended to bring the whole country to square one. Anyway, they cannot bring down an administration that worked hard to improve the country’s economy. Anti-administration personalities and backers are not thinking anymore and they keep on employing pathetic tactics just to take over the government. If these unthinking people are the ones who will lead another People Power and will eventually lead the country, then it will be a disaster in the making. Nobody would want to put unthinking personalities to the country’s top positions. Perhaps these destabilizers should know that…

Its my Opinion

Oust Gloria Now?

Perhaps everybody knows by now that the call to oust the President has reached every corner of the country. Militants, activists, opposition groups, power grabbers and opportunist are already smiling since the governance is in the brink of falling apart if a sudden turn of event, such as if Rodolfo Neri turns his back from the administration and the AFP/PNP withdrew their support, took place. Is ousting the President really worth it? Different sectors claimed that another People Power revolt aimed at removing the President from her seat will cleanse the country of all corrupt government officials. But, looking back through our history proves otherwise. Three revolutions transpired already, two of them genuine while the other one was a mockery, and still unscrupulous officials remained in our system. It is clear that initiating a revolution will not rid our country of these rotten officials. Being idealistic, like the militants and activists, will not do good since our norm should be viewed on a realistic manner. An ideal system practically never exists, contrary to what left-leaning groups asserts, claiming that it will save the country. The political opposition wants to topple the administration, stressing that an overhaul in the political system is what the country needs. However, these politicians obviously wants to unseat the President so that they will be able to grab power for their own advantage. It should be these power-hungry politician that should be removed first from their position if the people want a better system. There are also those people from the business sector who wants to destabilize the administration and support drives to bring down the government, not because it will be good for the economy, but rather, for their own personal advantage. It is a common notion that they will be able to move freely with their businesses if those in the top positions are their “kompadres”. Meanwhile, church groups dipped in to the controversy to be a part of the limelight. They just simply want to imitate what transpired in EDSA 1 when the church played a major role. These religious leaders haven’t leaned yet that religion and politics doesn’t mix well. They are obviously not keen in respecting the law that differentiates them. Left-leaning organizations, political opposition and some church groups are itching to oust the President but an assurance of better governance is not clear. These people don’t have any plans except for themselves. For the militants/activists, it would be just another trophy for them if a revolution takes place. For the political oppositions, they are the one who will take over top positions if destabilizing the administration transpires. For the business group, it will be beneficial for their businesses if they have powerful “kumpares.” For the some religious group, they will be happy with people will be looking at them as a very powerful institution that can change the leadership whenever they want to. Obviously, the general populace will not have anything to look forward to except an unchanged system. So, is ousting PGMA worthy enough? It is much better if the people will wait for 2010 so that they will be able to choose their next President as what the law dictates, not as what these sectors want. Democracy should be protected and it will be quite autocratic if these power grabbers and opportunists will succeed in their drive to oust the President.

Lozada’s Unworthy Cry

The “probinsyanong instik” cried in front of national TV… and it will not take long that he will once again be a cry baby after the political situation has stabilized. Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada have enjoyed massive support from political opportunists, opposition groups, left-leaning organizations and even church groups, but it will not take long until all such recognition will fade away after his popularity subsided. For most of us, it quite obvious that Lozada is just being taking for spin and used against the administration for their personal gains. Their main objective is to topple the President and grab power… evidently a practice contradictive to a democratic process. Destabilizers thought that Lozada was their last card to completely discredit the present administration and eventually bring it. He was even branded as “a hero” for spilling the beans on the alleged irregularities in government contracts. However, they have assumed too early a there were so many flaws in Lozada’s credibility. Opposition senators, specifically Sen. Panfilio Lacson, were not that good in providing script. The acting was even worst when he cried in national TV. Perhaps they should have consulted Jinggoy Estrada to make Lozada’s acting a little bit convincing. His “crying ability” needs a more improvement that’s why he was not that convincing. No matter how he tries, he can not fool the people since public viewers are smart enough not to believe his revelations. One cannot help but feel pity for Lozada the hero. Sooner of later, when the fog of political instability settled down, this guy will definitely disappear from limbo. And from there, he will then again cry out since his credibility will permanently be trashed and set aside. Detabilizers are expected not to cease in their drive to take over the government, with or without Lozada. Lozada is a disposal personality and they will tend to look for another person to exploit once the former’s showbiz glitter disappeared. Next in their roster in Dante Madiaga. Another persona who allegedly witnessed on how the ZTA seal scan took place. The people will be waiting for yet another funfare in the senate once Madriaga decided to dance with anti-Arroyo forces. However, it will be another comic strip since the opposition senators are not really doing their stuff in aid of legislation, but rather, more on grandstanding and pogi-points. If that time comes, the people will have something watch again on television, think about, criticize, laugh about, wonder and get amused but they will definitely buy the idea of another destabilization attempt for the good of the senate “trapos.” The Fillipino are smart enough… so don’t let yourself be included on those “utu-uto” or being used by these lousy politicians for their own gain…
